Saturday's (May 5, 2012) "Super Moon" was the biggest and brightest moon of the year. I was so looking forward to seeing it rise over Hualalai mountain, the volcano that is the backdrop to our home in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. But, as typical summer evening weather would have it, the sky was covered in cloud. But early the next morning, the brightness of the moon actually woke me up! Quickly dressing and racing down to Magic Sands beach, I was able to take this photo before the moon dipped behind the clouds on the horizon.
